Six Wuffs and a BobLee......... so you're finally trying to get an upgrade, huh? :) Just kidding. No worse that an old pilot buddy of mine, who unfortunately has passed on, that was a River Rat in 'Nam. When facing 4 MiG 19's, he and his wingman said the same thing.... good odds. Noles and 'Canes heading west would not be a bad thing IMO. I wonder if we could convince them to take BC, too? We do have some rather good folk in the Wake County area, in spite of the fact that it's a political center. But trust me on this, you don't want to know what's in the water. :) .................................. ................................................... ............. Simpson, Hamilton & McCreery are open about their faith as was PR at the NCSU commencement. Creates quite a contrast with the current most famous/Infamous residents of Chapel Hill, Little Johnny of Robbins and Jules of Swahilli. But every dog has its day and their could be another Easley family just around the corner. ...If FSu moves to the Big 12 will that result in the ACC football experts leaving their prediction blank for the winner of the Atlantic division? It sure seems like they have FSU as the default winner every year since 92 and then reality sets in. The only negative I see if FSu goes is the ACC will suddenly look a lot more like the Big East than maybe the Commis and ESPN would want at this time. Then again, ESPN will probably be making the final decision for FSu anyway. .................... ....................................................... ............................................ BL: Yeah, I'll take Webb, Josh and Scotty against Johnny Reid, Julius and Butcher ANY DAY of the week and twice on Sunday. ... If FSU goes, I think I'll start up an ECU 4 ACC Campaign just to REALLY piss off folks. ........... ....................................................... .................

Are you sure we can't petition the Seminoles to take the Hokies with them as well? Speaking of high and mighty football fans, up here far too many Hokie boards disdain all ACC football teams as practice games for their bowl game each year. I'll be mighty glad when Fedora and TOB rise to the occasion and beat them a time or two. ............ .................................................. .................................................. .... Nice comments about some nice guys (the Wake County boys of course)....then there is Williford. I listened to the abbreviated clip this morning where his lawyer said he had no intentions of killing. Just broke into three houses and the urge struck so he had his way with Kathy and then decided to kill her. Totally spontaneous and not premeditated. Maybe after the trial, he can use the same defense and speech for Uncle Julius. .... FSU, WHAT can we say. Obviously the PC gods are UPSET about their flagrant use of the Native American mascot. Maybe they can use Elizabeth Warren (for a royalty) and keep the motiff. How many times have the U and the Noles played each other in the ACC lackluster Championship game? Hint, same answer as how many times the FLAGSHIP has bested Tom O'Brien. The Dynamic Duo of Bobby and Chuck was broken and the Noles have not been the same since. Sort of like Ray Evernham leaving Jeff Gordon....it ain't working out. I was in Tallahassee once and don't have any plans for a return visit and it was NOT to watch my favorite team play FSU. Chuck and PR had their number...so life was good. Speaking of PR, he does have a DARK side. Jimbo Sexton is purportedly his agent....being a good Catholic, he probably brings this up in confession quite frequently. .................................... ................................................ ................................................ .... Ya know, BL, I notice that although you are a lifelong UNC-CH advocate, your values seem to line up far better with the sane sector of Wolfpackers. Brother from another mother? Write the check, BobLee. Purcell has already written his in spades and seems to have prospered in Wuffland. Amidst all this humoring around, I don't want to trivialize Bill Friday. He has been a great man for his whole North Carolina lifetime, and his like in our educational circles may never be seen again. The younger generation truly does not appreciate what he set up in the UNC System. I worry that many of our current and recent leaders have not lived up to his legacy, and I don't believe something like the "Great Unpleasantness" is one of his legacies. God Bless Bill Friday! ................ ................................................. ................................................. ...... BL: Actually I have a standing offer from the Deacons... and they don't require that "thingy with the billy goats" OR "a pinch between my cheek and gum". I'm probably better off as an excommunicated UNCer. ... That particular rumor sounds plausible (but I am sure you have better sources). He walked into a buzzsaw and seemed to handle it well. But he was the man to whom Julius reported and Julius was out of control. He seems to be a true academic. I prefer administrators that are at their core more teacher than bean-counter/fund raiser. Ambushee in the dictionary should have Thorp's picture beside it. Hope the rumor is wrong. ................................ ......................................................... ......................................................... ..... They say it was actually started by a HUGE HT supporter on a private board to prove to the HT haters how they were scammed by all the rumors released by BD via the 'net, thru his friends(Deems, etc) after this all went down. Guess it does prove a point that there is not much more than BS spread online via the board monkeys. To me, it all boils down to who do I think cares more about UNC, Butch Davis or Holden Thorp? I will support our Chancellor until I have concrete proof, not internet rumor, the he was the bad guy in all of this. I'd be willing to bet a large amount of cash that I will never be presented with that proof. ......................... ............................................................ ................ BL: I got wind of it around 4 PM. I conformed it was bogus and did what I could to squelch it ASAP... That it supposedly started on InsideCarolina says all that needs saying. ... CHT may have been naive and certainly trusted the wrong subordinate in Baddour BUT he (HT) most definitely is NOT "a bad guy". ... FWIW, I expect more crap like this before this is over. .......... ................................................... ...........................................

For years (well, ever since Bowden & Co. joined the ACC),I've been saying FSU belongs in the SEC. I totally agree with you about Miami, as well............................ ................................. ........ BL: under Obamacare, Bill Friday would have been "put to sleep". ...................... ........................ Sorry to hear about Bill Friday and certainly hope he gets better.
