BL, How could you leave me off the list Bob Lee? I love the University 2.7 million more times than you or the Boy King. Why, I think I could even find a side office for Black Santa and I hear I could put John Edwards on retainer for real cheap. I could bring Big Time College Football to the ACC and I would relocate the league office to Chapel Hill where it rightfully belongs. My first official act would be to force Chairman Yow to fire that pesky Wuffie football coach. Oh, and I would definitely send FSU, Clemson, Miami, Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech packing. That would certainly improve the caliber of ACC Football, especially after I bring in Davidson, Elon, App St, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Wilmington, Campbell, and UNC-Greensboro to tighten up the UNC conference schedule. Oh well, even if I don't get the job, I will have left behind a remarkable legacy at my favorite Public Ivy flagship. XOXOXO, Butcher ........................ ............................... ........ Mike Voight was one of our greatest. back to back ACC POY , 2nd leading rusher , 5th or so in scoring. it's a shame what Dick Crum did to Mike's legacy. Crum was arguably one of our worst football hirs ever. RIP SpaceCowboy .... .............................................. .............................................. ... BL: "what he did to Mike's legacy" ??? Whatever he "did" doesn't seem to have tarnished it very much. 1976 Carolina vs. MiamiO. Several Miami players had been giving Voight the business and Voight heard Crum yell "get Voight's ass". On the next sweep at crum's sideline Mike flipped crum the Bird. When crum came to UNC he took down all of Mike's memorabilia and pics. It was restored to its rightful place by Mack Brown when he came to UNC and embraced Mike's legacy. No! Crum didn't tarnish it he just tried to put it out of sight. Guess there is a reason Crum's critics are so prolific. .................................. ........................................ ..... I vote for Michelle Beadle or Brooklyn Decker. LJS will have the distinction of being the pilot when the ACC clips the treetops and ends up a pile of rubble. I believe in 6 months the ACC will be a vastly different neighborhood. I wish we could go back to a Bball-centric, Big 4 dominated conference but those days are 30-40 years behind us. .... ....................................................... ........................... RIP Mike Voight. There were some great days when UNC and the Pack fielded some outstanding runners year in and year out. The Voights, McCauleys, and Bryants vs the Burdens, Fritz, and Browns were fun to watch. I wonder where they all went? How can you concoct an ACC Commish list like that and leave off Brad Miller and Bobby Ethridge? .......................... .......................................... ...................... Bob, Several thoughts: What is your take on the present make-up of the UNC BOG? 22 of 35 have Chapel Hill degrees.How does that adequetely represent ALL of the universities without bias? What will it say if Fulton is the new chair? If Swofford is not in trouble,then he should be. The ACC could go down in flames on his watch. Sorry about the Holden rumor that I got from a UNC board.You are most likely right that there are still a few Butch supporters still lurking and started that rumor.Maybe he is the right one to try and restore academic integrity to that school.My hat is off to him if he pulls it off. BL: The alumni per-centages within the BOG takes time to even out. The current GenAssem is VERY VERY sensitive to the issue of too many UNC-CHers. Only a 1/3 come up for appointment every two years. An EXCELLENT NC State man - David Powers - was appointed last year. ... When the Dems ran the GenAssem they did indeed stack the deck with UNC Lib/Dems for years. ... THAT is NOT wuff-paranoia ... I cannot predict Holden's ultimate fate. He is in very deep s**t for sure. ... Fulton woulda been excellent six years ago with his strong CEO background. I am a little puzzled at your comment about Butch blowing smoke up anyone's skirt. Do you think Butch was even asked about his plans to raise the graduation rate or number of academic All-Americans? You used a term in the very beginning that should have made exotic dancers everywhere resentful at the comparison. Butch was a hired gun. Not sure why you believe Butch hoodwinked the BOT.They hired him to bring the football program up to the level of the basketball program and to justify the expense they have laid out at Kenan. Butch did what was necessary to carry out that mission in a timely manner. He was a slime-ball when the manure hit the turbine, but he never seemed like the type fall on his sword. If Fulton consented to hire him, it should be noted. ...... ........................................................ ......................... BL: The BOT3 heard what they wanted to hear and Butcher knew exactly what to say. Butcher was "recruiting" them exactly like he closed on recruits. No difference to him. He was selling himself and he knew they were naive to the reality of Big Time Football. They did indeed "agree to marry a stripper" in that Chicago hotel room. He figured once he got the recruits he needed, the Ws would guarantee his job security. ... then Marvin started tweeing. ... BobLee: I cannot believe no one has nominated Johnny Edwards as a potential candidate for ACC commish. I think he would be a perfect fit. He went to both NCSU and UNC but remains a UNC homer - ideal for keeping us Pack fans irritated. He is in need of a job (he does have a family or two to support). He is good with money and handles the press very well. So...what do you think? ....................................... ..................................... Prayers will be for Pete Brennan. I was only a year old when those guys won the championship, but I can certainly appreciate them!!! I'm quite sad about Voight. I knew several members of the team back then. He wasn't the most refined, by any means, but a lot of fun, along with being a great player. Thanks for sharing the news! ........... BL: Nope, no one ever used "refined" to describe Mike Voight. ........
